Common use of Temporary Assignment to Another Position Within Clause in Contracts

Temporary Assignment to Another Position Within. the Same Civil Service Class Employees who are directed to temporarily perform the duties of a higher paid position in the same Civil Service class, shall be placed on the lowest step rate of the higher level salary range which will result in a salary increase of at least five percent (5%), not to exceed the top step of the higher range, effective the first day those duties are performed. If such temporary reassignment lasts longer than six (6) months, Department management shall meet with the Union to determine what steps need to be taken to permanently fill the position in a way that meets the interests of both parties. Upon reassignment from a permanent position to a temporary position at a higher pay level, in accordance with the provisions of this Article, there will be no change in the employee’s anniversary date. Upon reassignment from a temporary position, made under the provisions of this Article, back to an employee’s permanent position or to another temporary position at a higher pay level, there will be no change in the employee’s step or anniversary date.
