The term of office shall be three (3) years with the position being declared vacant and posted for one (1) month, at least two (2) months prior to the end of the three (3) year term. The appointment of the incumbent will be automatically renewed if no applications for the position besides the incumbent's are received. An evaluation will be conducted at least once in each Chair's term. An evaluation may be conducted at any time during the term of the appointment and may result in an early termination of the Chair's assignment. In addition, an evaluation will be conducted upon a request of other Employees within the department. When a Chair position is vacated during the term, the position shall be posted for two (2) weeks, and a replacement appointed as soon thereafter as is practical. In consultation with the department, the Xxxx may choose to appoint the replacement Chair for any period of time between the remainder of the three (3) year term and three (3) years.

The College does not plan to redefine Departments for the purpose of making significant adjustments in Chair positions. As the College grows and changes, past practice will be a major consideration in the allocation of Chair positions and release time.

All Faculty Members in the department shall have the opportunity to contribute to these evaluations. In consultation with the department, the Xxxx or Director may choose to appoint the replacement for any period of time between the remainder of the three (3) year term and three (3) years.
