Common use of Time Trades Clause in Contracts

Time Trades. If an employee, with the approval of the supervisor, and solely at the employee's option, agrees to substitute during scheduled work hours for another employee the hours the employee works as a substitute shall be excluded in the calculation of hours for which the employee is entitled to overtime. The division is permitted, but not required, to keep a record of the hours of the substitute work. Employees with the approval of the Chief of Police, and solely at the employee's option, shall be permitted to trade shifts with employees who are qualified to perform all of the necessary functions of the position. Approval for shift trades may be reasonably withheld. The request must be in writing and signed by both employees.
