Common use of Training Benefits Clause in Contracts

Training Benefits. (a) In the event that the Employer should introduce new methods or machines which require new or greater skills than are possessed by employees under the present method of operation, such employees shall, subject to the employee's ability and qualifications to perform the remaining work, at the expense of the Employer, be given a period of time not to exceed three (3) months, during which they may perfect or acquire the skills necessitated by the new method of operation. There shall be no reduction in wage or salary rates during the training period of any such employee and no reduction in pay upon being reclassified in the new position. (b) Should the introduction of new methods of operation create a need for the perfection or acquisition of skills requiring a training period longer than three (3) months, the additional training time shall be a subject for discussion between the Employer and the Union.
