Courses of Instruction. The Board agrees to pay the full cost of any course of instruction required and approved by the Board for any employee to better qualify the employee to perform their job. Such payment shall be made upon the successful completion of the course.
Courses of Instruction. A. Employees who have completed a counseling program and filed an individual career development plan for a targeted classification shall be entitled to pre-paid tuition (subject to Paragraph B, below) for any approved courses provided at the local educational institutions.
B. Courses and training programs offered under the auspices of the Upward Mobility Program shall be available at no charge to employees participating in the program subject to the availability of funds and the policy guidelines established by the Committee.
C. Certified employees who apply to the Upward Mobility Program and are not accepted due to availability of funds shall be placed on a waiting list. Upon application, the employees on the waiting list shall be permitted to take a test for an Upward Mobility Program targeted title pursuant to guidelines established by the Advisory Committee. Employees successfully completing the test shall be granted certificates and placed on the appropriate eligibility list. Employees not passing the test shall remain on the waiting list for entrance into the program.
Courses of Instruction. An employee requested by the Board to take training to update or upgrade skills or to learn new skills shall receive reasonable notice of such required training. The Board shall pay the following related expenses:
(i) required registration/tuition fees;
(ii) necessary books and materials;
(iii) travel, meals, accommodation in accordance with Board policy. The employee agreeing to take such training shall do so without loss of pay and without loss of benefits. Where the Board determines it feasible, and that training is necessary for employees of the School District, employees on the recall list shall be provided the opportunity to attend formal training programs at the employee’s expense.
Courses of Instruction a) An employee may submit a request in writing for payment of Course fees upon successful completion. The Board may reimburse the employee if the following criteria are met:
1. the course is directly work related 2. the course is taken on the employee’s own time.
Courses of Instruction. (a) The Board agrees to pay the full cost of any course of instruction required and approved by the Board for any employee to better qualify the employee to perform their job. Such payment shall be made upon the successful completion of the course. The Board shall provide an adequate training and/or familiarization period for new employees and in cases of new technology.
(b) The Union has established an Education Fund for all IUOE members of School District No. 52. The Union has allocated $0.01/hour worked for each member of School District No. 52 which will be contributed to the Education Fund. The cap on the fund is $5,000.00. The School District will also match the Union's contribution which will be retroactive to the month of June, 1994. The employer's contribution to be capped at $5,000.00. A four (4) person Joint Committee consisting of two (2) representatives of the Union and two (2) representatives of the Board will be formed to mutually agree on the distribution criteria for the Education Fund.
Courses of Instruction. In the event of any employee taking a course of instruction, as approved by the Board, in order that the employee will better qualify to perform his job, the Board will, on the employee’s successful completion of the course, reimburse the employee in full for all pre- approved costs incurred during the duration of the course. When an exam connected with the course requires the employee to be absent from work for the day then the employee will be reimbursed equivalent to their normal shift for one (1) day.
Courses of Instruction. The Employer(s)’ current policy with respect to the taking of paid time off for, and cost reimbursement of courses of instruction at colleges, business schools and adult education centers for non-probationary employees shall continue in effect. If an employee leaves employment with the County within two (2) years of reimbursement, the employee will in turn reimburse the County in an amount equal to the reimbursement.
Courses of Instruction. 13.2.1 The Board agrees to pay the full cost of any course of instruction required by the Board for any employee to better qualify the employee to perform their job. Such payments shall be made upon the successful completion of the course. Prior approval of any course must be obtained in writing from the Board.
13.2.2 When a short course of instruction has been arranged by the Board and attendance is mandatory, an employee will be paid for the full number of hours in attendance Overtime is applicable per Article 7.
Courses of Instruction. Courses of Instruction are specified in Attachment A to this Agreement. It is the District’s responsibility to insure that the outlines of record for such courses are approved by the District’s curriculum committee as meeting California Code of Regulations Title V course standards, and that the courses have been approved by the District Governing Board.

The employee shall receive full wages and benefits and continue to accrue seniority. In such instances, costs may also include travel and other related costs.
