Common use of Transfer of Longevity Clause in Contracts

Transfer of Longevity. When an employee transfers into the District and has previous school district experience in the State of Washington, that employee’s longevity, for the purpose of determining wage schedule placement and vacation entitlement, shall be transferred subject to Washington State law and verification by the District. Seniority, however, is not transferable. For example, if an employee works as a Custodian in a Washington State Public School District for ten (10) years and transfers to the District as a Custodian, said employee shall be given the same wage schedule placement, vacation entitlement, and longevity credit as if they had worked in the District for the same ten (10) year period.
