Transfers and Voluntary Demotions. β Section 1. An employee wishing to transfer, or to take a voluntary demotion, within his or her classification, or pay range, from one division to another, may request a transfer or demotion in writing through the Civil Service and Personnel Department. Transfers of bargaining unit personnel shall be governed by the provisions of this Agreement; civil service law and regulation shall not apply. Employees transferred to another division will begin anew their seniority status relative to this position as it relates to the employees in the division to which they are transferred. Transferred employees will not lose their seniority status relative to the general benefit plans of the City. Section 2. Employee transfer requests will be valid for a period of one (1) year from the date of the written request. Such requests may be renewed for additional annual periods. Section 3. IUOE bargaining unit members shall be given priority consideration for transfer to positions which occur within the bargaining unit, before other City employees or outside appointees are offered the positions. However, nothing contained herein shall be construed as giving priority consideration to transferees over other bargaining unit employees.
