Transition from Existing Evaluation System. A) The parties may agree that 50% of more of Educators in the district will be evaluated under the new procedures at the outset of this Agreement, and 50% or fewer will be evaluated under the former evaluation procedures for the first year of implementation of the new procedures in this Agreement. B) The parties shall agree on a process for identifying the Educator Plan that each Educator will be placed on during the Educator’s first year being evaluated under the new procedures, providing that Educators who have received ratings of unsatisfactory or its equivalent in the prior year will be placed on Self-Directed Growth or Improvement Plans at the sole discretion of the Superintendent. C) The parties agree that to address the workload issue of Evaluators, during the first evaluation cycle under this Agreement in every school or department, the names of the Educators who are being placed on Self-directed Growth Plans shall be literally or figuratively “put into a hat.” The first fifty (50) percent drawn shall be on a 1-year Self- directed Growth Plan and the second fifty (50) percent shall be on a 2-year Plan. D) The existing evaluation system will remain in effect until the provisions set forth in this Article are implemented.
