Common use of Transition to Alert Clause in Contracts

Transition to Alert. Transition to Alert may occur during a Fleet Services 16 employee’s regularly scheduled work day. In such cases, employees may be sent home before the 17 end of the regular shift in order to get rest prior to the start of their Alert shift, or may be required to 18 stay on their regular shift until the start of the Alert shift. The decision to send an employee home or 19 require them to remain at work will be determined by the County based on operational and safety 20 considerations, taking into consideration the desire of the employee. If the employee requests and is 21 approved to be relieved from their regular shift, they may use accrued vacation leave, compensatory 22 time, or leave without pay for that portion of the regular shift they did not work. If the employee is 23 relieved by management from their regular shift, the employee will be compensated for the remainder 24 of the shift.
