Common use of Union Business or Public Duties Clause in Contracts

Union Business or Public Duties. (a) Union business shall be considered good cause for leave of absence without pay and on at least five days’ notice in writing, to the appropriate local management, leave of absence without pay shall be given to any designated employee or employees for the purpose of conducting Union business, subject to mutual agreement, if the Employer considers the numbers appointed to be excessive. The Employer may waive any portion of the notice period. The employee shall retain all benefits and security however, such leave will be without salary.
