Vacation Carryover and Vacation Banking. Beginning in the 2012 calendar year, vacations must be taken by December 31 of the calendar year earned and cannot be carried over into the following calendar year. In addition, employees who had banked vacation as of September 12, 2010, were required to utilize all banked hours prior to December 31, 2012.
