Vegetation Clearing, Soil Erosion and Sedimentation. Construction activities have the potential to clear vegetation and, loosen soils particularly on slopes which can then be washed down into the lower areas (streams and valleys) and soil quality degradation is also likely to occur during construction as a result of disposal of construction materials on the adjacent lands especially near the base of the valleys and ultimately into the rivers. Impact Scoring Severity of Impact -2 Spatial Scope of the Impact -2 Duration of Impact -3 Overall score -2 Interpretation low Mitigation measures The following is proposed to mitigate against soil erosion and, its effects and enhance vegetation cover.  Re-plant the indigenous vegetation as much as practical once work is completed.  Limit vegetation clearance unless where unavoidable circumstances appear;  Contain excavated soils so that they will not find their way into nearby water sources;  Cement mixing should be done in a designated area away at a safe distance from storm water drains;  Spilled cement or concrete should be collected and disposed away from natural water ways or storm water drainage;  Sensitise workers and enable them to properly handle concrete spillages or waste cement;  Re-vegetation of exposed areas around the site should be carried out rapidly in order to mitigate against erosion of soil through surface water runoff and wind erosion.

  • Erosion and Sediment Control The Contractor shall install and maintain erosion and sediment control devices to prevent adjacent streets, storm drains and property from accumulations of soil, sediment, or dust which result from his work. Devices installed to control sediment and prevent erosion shall comply with the requirements of the Georgia Tech Project Superintendent. The Contractor is responsible for monitoring downstream conditions throughout the construction period and clearing any debris, sediment, and dust caused by the progress of the Work. The Contractor shall inspect, maintain, and clear erosion and sediment control devices at least weekly unless otherwise directed by the Georgia Institute of Technology Construction Manager. At the conclusion of the Work, the Contractor shall remove all installed devices and restoring the site to the satisfaction of the Georgia Tech Construction Manager.

  • Vegetation No trees or other vegetation may be removed from the site without prior approval from the Town, except in accordance with Section 4 above and pursuant to the Annual Plan.

  • Dangerous Goods, Special Wastes, Pesticides and Harmful Substances Where employees are required to work with or are exposed to any dangerous good, special waste, pesticide or harmful substance, the Employer shall ensure that the employees are adequately trained in the identification, safe handling, use, storage, and/or disposal of same.

  • Groundwater The groundwater shall not be degraded as a result of the waste maintained at the facility.

  • GARBAGE DISPOSAL, RECYCLING, AND BIODEGRADABLE MATERIALS A. Concessionaire shall be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Concession Premises. Concessionaire shall ensure placement of all garbage and trash generated by the Concession Operation in designated containers and that said containers are emptied daily, or as more frequently required by Department, at a location within the Area designated by Department. Disposal costs from this latter location shall be borne by Department. Concessionaire shall provide such additional trash containers as may be required to keep the immediate Concession Premises clean at all times. The type of trash containers provided by Concessionaire shall be approved by Department prior to use.

  • Geological and Archeological Specimens If, during the execution of the Work, the Contractor, any Subcontractor, or any servant, employee, or agent of either should uncover any valuable material or materials, such as, but not limited to, treasure trove, geological specimens, archival material, archeological specimens, or ore, the Contractor acknowledges that title to the foregoing is vested in the Owner. The Contractor shall notify the Owner upon the discovery of any of the foregoing, shall take reasonable steps to safeguard it, and seek further instruction from the Design Professional. Any additional cost incurred by the Contractor shall be addressed under the provision for changed conditions. The Contractor agrees that the Geological and Water Resources Division and the Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources may inspect the Work at reasonable times.

  • Meteorological Data Reporting Requirement (Applicable to wind generation facilities only) The wind generation facility shall, at a minimum, be required to provide the Transmission Provider with site-specific meteorological data including: • Temperature (degrees Fahrenheit) • Wind speed (meters/second) • Wind direction (degrees from True North) • Atmosphere pressure (hectopascals) • Forced outage data (wind turbine and MW unavailability)

  • Prohibition Against Selecting and Installing Products Containing Hazardous Materials The Contractor shall not select, install or otherwise incorporate any products or materials containing Hazardous Materials within the boundaries of the Site. Should the Contractor or any Subcontractors have knowledge that, or believe that, an item, component, material, substance, or accessory within a product or assembly selected by the Contractor or any Subcontractor may contain Hazardous Materials it is the Contractor’s responsibility to secure a written certification from the manufacturer of any suspected material which identifies the specific Hazardous Material(s) contained, together with the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for such materials which shall be submitted to the Owner and Design Professional.

  • Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention and Control (a) The Hospital in consultation with the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) shall develop, establish and put into effect, musculoskeletal prevention and control measures, procedures, practices and training for the health and safety of employees.

  • Construction Clearing All timber is designated for cutting that is within the clearing limits of roads constructed hereunder or is in other authorized clearings. All dead or unstable live trees are designated for cutting that are sufficiently tall to reach Purchaser’s landings or the roadbed of Specified and Temporary Roads when Marked in advance of felling of timber in the immediate vicinity. Pieces meeting Utilization Standards from such dead or unstable live trees shall be removed, unless there is agreement that to do so could damage the road. Such designation may be revised as part of agreed changes in road location under B5.2.
