VOLUNTARY DEMOTIONS OR REDUCTIONS. In lieu of a layoff a bargaining unit member may accept a voluntary demotion to a vacant position provided s/he meets the minimum qualifications. 24.7.1 A bargaining unit member who takes a voluntary demotion or a voluntary reduction in hours in lieu of layoff shall be granted the same rights as persons laid off and shall retain eligibility to be considered for reemployment for sixty three (63) months.
