Common use of Work in a Higher Classification or Lower Classification Clause in Contracts

Work in a Higher Classification or Lower Classification. (a) When an employee is requested to work in a higher classification, or assigned the principal duties of a higher classification, such employee shall be paid the higher rate of pay for all hours worked in the higher classification. (b) When an employee is assigned temporarily to perform work in a lesser wage classification on the same day, such employee shall not suffer a reduction in regular rate of pay for any hours worked in the lower classification. (c) It is agreed that employees who confirm in advance that they will accept work in a lower classification shall receive payment at the applicable job rate.
