WORK OUT OF CLASSIFICATION AND TRAINING PAY. Section 1: Temporary work assignments to an established position of higher grade shall be compensated as follows: (a) An employee officially requested by their Supervisor or Coordinator, to temporarily assume the full responsibilities of an established, classified Teamsters represented position of higher grade for at least four (4) hours shall be paid the highest rate of pay applicable to that classified position for the entire shift. (2) Documenting Must include performance expectations or training objectives and criteria for evaluation;
(3) The Trainer must document proficiencies and deficiencies of the employee being trained.; and
(34) Training The training responsibilities are those which are over and above the any responsibilities outlined in the job description.
(c) In order to qualify for training pay an employee must be assigned by the employee’s manager to conduct formal training and the training duties must be outside the scope of duties defined within the job description of the employee’s classification.
Section 4: Bilingual Pay: Employees who are eligible for bilingual pay must pass a CITY approved Spanish proficiency examination at the CITY’s expense to receive a monthly payment of $80.00 per month, beginning the first month after they have successfully completed the assessment. The payment will be received in the employee’s paycheck. Once an employee has successfully completed the mandatory assessment, they will not be required to complete another exam unless they voluntarily withdraw and then wish to re-enter the program. Should the employee demonstrate an unwillingness to utilize their second language skills for the benefit of the department, the department may remove the individual from the list and bilingual pay will cease for that individual.
(a) The above provisions will apply to employees who have received the ASL certification for sign language. A copy of the certification must be presented to Human Resources, and a copy will be maintained in the employee’s personnel file. The employee will receive the bilingual pay of $80.00 per month beginning the following month.
(b) No bilingual pay will be paid if an employee is on unpaid leave of absence for fifty percent (50%) or more of the month. If employment ends on or prior to the 15th of the month, no bilingual pay will be paid for that month. If employment ends after the 15th of the month, employee shall receive bilingual pay for the month.
