Work Outside Appointment Dates. If the Department Head determines there is work to be performed outside the dates of the employee's appointment connected to that appointment (for example, course preparation meetings, grade appeals, exam deferrals), and the Department Head offers the work to the employee, the employee who accepts the offer of work will be paid the hourly rate for time spent performing the work in accordance with clause 17.3.(a). The Department Head may pre- determine the amount of time the employee is to spend on such work. If the employee is not available to perform this work, this will not have any impact on their employment.
