Disaster or other emergency definition

Disaster or other emergency means the occurrence or imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, loss of life or property resulting from an intentional, accidental, or unintended release of any substance in or material in any form or quantity which poses an unreasonable risk to the safety and health and to the property when released, natural incidents, explosions, fires, collapses, or any other incident which directly affects public safety.

  • Medical emergency means a condition caused by an Injury or Sickness that manifests itself by symptoms of sufficient severity that a prudent lay person possessing an average knowledge of health and medicine would reasonably expect that failure to receive immediate medical attention would place the health of the person in serious jeopardy.

  • Hardship means deprivation, suffering, adversity, or long-term adverse financial impact in complying with the title plant requirement that is more than minimal when considering all the circumstances. Financial hardship alone may constitute a hardship.

  • Public health emergency means an emergency with respect to COVID–19 declared by a Federal, State, or local authority.

  • Disaster means a sudden emergency occurrence beyond the control of the licensee, whether natural, technological, or man-made, that renders the licensee unable to operate the facility or makes the facility uninhabitable.

  • Emergency means natural calamities, disasters, accidents, war and breakdown of operational equipment, plant, machinery or engineering infrastructures, which may give rise to abnormal situation requiring prompt and immediate action to limit or avoid damage to person(s), property or the environment;
