hard of hearing means person having 60 DB to 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears;
hard of hearing is a term that general refers to people who have mild to moderate hearing loss who may communicate through Sign Language, spoken language or both. These individuals may or may not use a combination of: Sign Language Interpreters, hearing aids, assistive listening devices, and other specialized communication technology.

  • Whenever, based on the circumstances, VRI does not provide effective communication with a Patient or Companion who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing, VRI shall not be used as a substitute for an on-site Qualified Interpreter, and FRMC shall request and provide an on-site Qualified Interpreter in a timely manner as required by Paragraph 35 of this Agreement, two hours from when it becomes clear that VRI cannot provide effective communication.

  • All appropriate Auxiliary Aids and Services required by this Agreement will be provided free of charge to the Patient and/or Companion who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

  • FRMC will monitor and document in the Auxiliary Aid and Service Log, described in Paragraph 30, the response time of each Qualified Interpreter service it uses to provide communication to Patients or Companions who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through its established process of monitoring outside vendors.

  • FRMC will maintain a log documenting requests for Qualified Interpreters on-site or through Video Remote Interpreting services for persons who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

  • FRMC will provide FRMC Personnel with a telephone number through which the on-duty Assistive Device Point Person can be contacted twenty-four (24) hours a day seven days a week by FRMC Personnel providing services to individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
