Household appliance means utilization equipment installed in a dwelling unit that is built in standardized sizes or types and is in- stalled or connected as a unit to perform one or more household func- tions such as food preparation, cooking, and cleaning. Includes appli- ances typically installed in a dwelling unit kitchen, clothes washing, drying, and water heating appliances, portable room air conditioning units and portable heaters, etc. Fixed electric space-heating equip- ment covered in NEC 424 (furnaces, baseboard and wall heaters, elec- tric heat cable, etc.) and fixed air-conditioning/heat pump equipment (NEC 440) are not household appliances.
