Immediate family or household definition

Immediate family or household means: • an Employee’s spouse, child, parent, grandchild, grandparent or sibling; • a child, parent, grandchild, grandparent, or sibling of the spouse of the Employee; • for the purpose of this Clause, the word child means an adopted child, a stepchild, an exnuptial child or an adult child; • for the purpose of this Clause, the word spouse means a former spouse, a de facto spouse or a former de facto spouse.

Immediate family or household for the purpose of this Agreement shall be interpreted to mean spouse, father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, son- in-law, daughter-in-law, any generation of grandparent, grandchildren, stepmother, stepfather, stepbrother, stepsister, or stepchildren of an employee or anyone so related to the employee’s spouse or anyone who lives in the immediate household as a member of the family.

Immediate family or household means the employee’s spouse, child, parent, grandchild, grandparent or sibling, or the child, parent, grandchild, grandparent or sibling of the employee’s spouse.

Examples of Immediate family or household in a sentence

• Immediate family or household for the purpose of this Section shall include: father, mother, sister, brother, spouse, child, or grandchild related by blood, marriage, or adoption, grandfather, grandmother, father/mother-in-law, brother/sister-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece/nephew, and legal guardians.

• Immediate family or household member shall be defined as spouse, children, parents, sibling, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or a person residing in the same household as the employee.

• Immediate family or household critical health care needs: • No minimum number of consecutive days of absence is necessary.

• The notice must be to the effect that the Employee requires the leave because of a personal illness or injury or to provide care or support to a member of the Employee’s Immediate family or household as the member is suffering either a personal illness or injury or an unexpected emergency.
