Independent laboratory definition

Independent laboratory means a laboratory performing diagnostic tests which is independent both of an attending or con- sulting physician’s office and of a hospital.
Independent laboratory means a facility other than a hospital or clinic that is certified in accordance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) of 1988 standards to provide diagnostic laboratory services.
