Individual subsurface sewage disposal system definition

Individual subsurface sewage disposal system means a system for disposal of sanitary sewage into the ground which is designed and constructed to retain most of the settleable solids in a septic tank and to discharge the liquid effluent to a disposal field. This does not include outhouses, dry wells or similar facilities; and
Individual subsurface sewage disposal system or “ISSDS” means a collection of components for disposal of sanitary sewage into the ground which is designed and constructed in conformance with this chapter to treat sanitary sewage in a manner that will retain most of the settleable solids in a septic tank or may incorporate an advanced wastewater pretreatment device and discharges liquid effluent of typical domestic strength to a disposal field. An ISSDS may include advanced wastewater pretreatment. The termsonsite wastewater treatment system” and “system" are equivalent in meaning.
Individual subsurface sewage disposal system means a system for the disposal of sanitary sewage into the ground which is designed and constructed to treat sanitary sewage in a manner that will retain most of the settleable solids in a septic tank and discharge the liquid effluent to a disposal field.

More Definitions of Individual subsurface sewage disposal system

Individual subsurface sewage disposal system means a type of septic system as defined in N.J.A.C. 7:9A-2.1.
Individual subsurface sewage disposal system or “ISSDS” means a system for the disposal of less than or equal to 2,000 gallons per day of sanitary sewage into the ground. Typically such systems are designed and constructed to treat sanitary sewage in a manner that will retain most of the settleable solids in a septic tank and discharge the liquid effluent to a disposal field, but similar designs are also included (for example, those that include seepage tanks or pits for effluent disposal and cesspools that may have been constructed prior to current codes).

  • Underground storage tank or “UST” means any one or combination of tanks (including underground pipes connected thereto) that is used to contain an accumulation of regulated substances, and the volume of which (including the volume of underground pipes connected thereto) is 10 percent or more beneath the surface of the ground. This term does not include any:

  • Sanitary Sewer System means all facilities, including ap- proved LOSS, used in the collection, transmission, storage, treatment, or discharge of any waterborne waste, whether domestic in origin or a combination of domestic, commercial, or industrial wastewater. LOSS are only considered sanitary sewer systems if they are designed to serve urban densities. Sanitary sewer system is also commonly known as public sewer system.

  • Stormwater management planning area means the geographic area for which a stormwater management planning agency is authorized to prepare stormwater management plans, or a specific portion of that area identified in a stormwater management plan prepared by that agency.

  • Sewage sludge weight means the weight of sewage sludge, in dry U.S. tons, including admixtures such as liming materials or bulking agents. Monitoring frequencies for sewage sludge parameters are based on the reported sludge weight generated in a calendar year (use the most recent calendar year data when the NPDES permit is up for renewal).

  • Sewage sludge means a solid, semi-solid, or liquid residue generated during the treatment of domestic sewage in a treatment works as defined in section 6111.01 of the Revised Code. "Sewage sludge" includes, but is not limited to, scum or solids removed in primary, secondary, or advanced wastewater treatment processes. "Sewage sludge" does not include ash generated during the firing of sewage sludge in a sewage sludge incinerator, grit and screenings generated during preliminary treatment of domestic sewage in a treatment works, animal manure, residue generated during treatment of animal manure, or domestic septage.

  • Septic tank means a water tight tank designed to receive sewage and to effect the adequate decomposition of organic matter in sewage by bacterial action;

  • Groundwater means all water, which is below the surface of the ground in the saturation zone and in direct contact with the ground or subsoil.
