Informal bidding should be used to assure the most competitive price is received for an item, while avoiding the additional time and expense involved in formal bidding.
Informal bidding shall require quotations to be obtained from a vendor either in writing or by oral communication so long as oral communication is documented (see attached form).
Informal bidding may be used on work, projects, services, or purchases that cost up to the limits set forth in this article.
These are: • Cost accounting policies and procedures; • Informal bidding procedures; and • Accounting procedures review.
Informal bidding procedures shall be used for public works projects over $60,000 and up to $200,000 in value.
