Nonemergency medical transportation definition

Nonemergency medical transportation means transportation to or from medically necessary nonemergency treatment.
Nonemergency medical transportation or “NEMT” means medical transportation to a covered service when needs are not immediate such as to and from a doctor’s office, the hospital, or other medical office for covered care. NEMT services provided by ambulance providers are not the financial responsibility of nursing facility providers and are not included in the nursing facility Medicaid per diem nor covered under this definition.

Nonemergency medical transportation is defined as those non- emergency, non-ambulance transportation services for Eligible Clients to receive necessary medical services covered by the State of Connecticut Medicaid program. Contractor may utilize any or all of the following forms of transportation in the performance of its obligations hereunder; private automobile, bus, taxi, livery, invalid coach, train, travel agent and air transportation.
