Any incident occurring in the Skills, or during on and off campus clinical times must be reported to the faculty, Compliance Coordinator, Department Chair / Chief Nurse Administrator, Program Director, and Skills lab coordinator (as appropriate) within 24 hours.
Students who foresee a prolonged absence must meet with the Department Chair/ Chief Nurse Administrator or Undergraduate Program Director to discuss possible options (i.e., leave of absence, drop, or withdrawal from the program).
Upon exposure, the student will notify (1) the clinical instructor, (2) the Employee Health Nurse within the clinical facility (if exposure occurs outside the CSUSB nursing laboratory), (3) the D e p a r t me n t Chair / Chief Nurse Administrator (CNA) of the CSUSB Nursing Department, Program Director, and the Compliance Coordinator (4) the skills lab coordinator, as appropriate.
Within five (5) workdays, the instructor, in consultation with the Department Chair/Chief Nurse Administrator, will meet with the student to define details of the SPS for completion.
Meet with the Nurse Administrator of the program bringing the documentation to that meeting.
The Nurse Administrator will review these guidelines and the student’s documentation with the student.
In all cases, once the decision has been made, the Nurse Administrator of the requested program will meet with the student to discuss the decision and options for the student.
If the offense is similar, but not worded exactly as it appears on the list, the Nurse Administrator will consult with the VP of Academic Services, who in turn will consult with the college attorney, for an interpretation of the conviction.
This final meeting will include, but not limited to the instructor, Department Chair/Chief Nurse Administrator, and the student.
Applicants may be interviewed as requested by the Chief Nurse Administrator and faculty.
