Proficiency testing sample or “PT sample” means a sample obtained from an approved provider to evaluate the ability of a laboratory to produce an analytical test result meeting the def- inition of acceptable performance outlined in s. NR 149.27. The concentration of the analyte in the sample is unknown to the labo- ratory at the time of analysis. PT samples are used to evaluate whether the laboratory can produce analytical results within spec- ified acceptance limits.
