Social Welfare Assistant definition

Social Welfare Assistant means a person who is employed to assist social welfare workers within a defined area of social and community welfare services and is under the immediate and direct supervision of another employee in relation to all aspects of his or her employment. In no case shall a social welfare assistant be responsible for policy development, or co-ordination, or the direction or supervision of paid or unpaid workers. However, a social welfare assistant may be required to provide information for use in the co-ordination and policy development of an organisation.
