Special Education Services definition

Special Education Services means specially designated instruction at no cost to the parent, to meet the unique needs of an eligible student with a disability, including instruction conducted in the classroom, in the home, in hospitals and institutions and in other settings, and instruction in physical education.
Special Education Services means specially designed instruction and such related services as are necessary for an exceptional student to benefit from education. Such services may include: transportation; diagnostic and evaluation services; social services; physical and occupational therapy; speech and language pathology services; job placement; orientation and mobility training; braillists, typists, and readers for the blind; interpreters and auditory amplification; services provided by a certified listening and spoken language specialist; rehabilitation counseling; transition services; mental health services; guidance and career counseling; specified materials, assistive technology devices, and other specialized equipment; and other such services as approved by rules of the state board.
Special Education Services means facilities and resources, including support personnel and equipment, necessary for developing and implementing a special education program; (”services à l’enfance en difficulté“)

Examples of Special Education Services in a sentence

  • Students Receiving Special Education Services Pursuant to an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 Plan (20 USC 1400 and following; 34 CFR 300.114-300.118) IEP teams and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), not district administrators and/or other federal/state legislation, determine the placement of IDEA eligible students.

  • In the event the student needs other arrangements, placement shall be as close as possible to the student’s home.” Special Education Services are provided in a continuum throughout the district.
