More Definitions of Research Programme

Research Programme. Investigation of the ultrafast dynamics of electronic states in solids by time and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy The activity is in the field of experimental physics of matter and concerns the investigation of the electronic structure of novel materials by angular and time resolved photoemission spectroscopy. This technique accesses the dynamics of the electronic states and allows to reveal interactions among particles (electrons, phonons, magnons, excitons). The existing photoemission setup, based on a hemispherical analyzer, employs a 6 eV photon beam generated by nonlinear processes from an ytterbium femtosecond laser. Experiments will be performed in pump-probe mode. Instrumental development is foreseen to add tunability of the laser beams. The experiments will involve samples where electronic correlations and topological ordering give rise to peculiar behavior and phase transitions. Mentoring of master and doctoral students and teaching in courses for engineering students will be a mandatory part of the activity of the successful candidate.
