DESCRIPTION OF THE INITIATIVES TO BE IMPLEMENTED. 1.1. INSTITUTIONAL STRATEGY AND JUSTIFICATION FOR THE OPTIONS The INNOV2CARE Project's main aims are to adapt and modernize training of clinicians and other health professionals, in order to boost the appropriate, efficient and effective use of new technological possibilities, to improve quality care in increasingly complex contexts (in terms of not only health problems, but also life expectations, treatment and well-being, as well as behavioural changes associated, for example, with the acceptance of certain types of treatment and prevention). Preparing professionals for changing contexts and, in particular, for the technological revolution that is increasingly impacting the healthcare system in various dimensions, is fundamental and requires extensive reforms in teaching-learning processes and lifelong learning. Simulation, as a versatile and interactive educational tool, constitutes a privileged strategy i) to improve knowledge and performance of gestures, procedures and medical acts associated with critical and complex events and different physiological states and pathologies, ii) to increase training processes and skills assessment in controlled, replicable and reliable spaces, iii) to innovate in teaching-learning processes and continuing medical education, as well as iv) to minimise problems of medical error and risk to patients in training processes (individual or health teams). Increased investment in modern and advanced simulation centres, with hybrid face-to-face and distance training solutions, is therefore an important strategy in the modernization of healthcare training and in the preparation, through trial and error, to improve clinical performance and decision-making with a higher level of rationale and predictability in a real context and in a multi-professional team. Investment in high-fidelity simulation spaces and advanced equipment (mannequins, virtual and augmented reality, etc.) is therefore a central element of the INNOV2CARE project and the objectives it advocates. Página14 In addition, technical developments and data interoperability increasingly allow for a greater level of predictability and speed in diagnosis and treatment. Artificial Intelligence (AI) devices and applications can be used to support patients in prevention and health promotion, track data (stored or in real time), perform triage, personalize care, monitor remotely, digitalize medical images, diagnose diseases and make faster, evidence-based treatment decisions. ...
