Reclassification Request. 6 A request for reclassification(s) for a unit member(s) may be made by the Association; however, 7 unit members may request reclassification directly to the Human Resources Office. Such requests 8 shall be in writing. Reclassification requests shall be reviewed and completed within a reasonable 9 length of time [not to exceed eighteen (18) months in duration]. Unit member(s) working less than 10 twelve (12) months shall have their reclassification request placed on hold for the summer period.
Reclassification Request. Who Can Initiate In any case where it is claimed that the duties, responsibilities or required qualifications of a position have been significantly changed, or are sufficiently dissimilar from the type of duties, level of responsibilities or required qualifications as described in the class specifications for the LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING – CLASSIFICATION AND VALUATION REVIEWS (cont'd) Page 2 class to which the position is currently assigned so as to warrant reclassification, either the Board or the Union or the incumbent employee may at any time initiate a request for reclassification of such position or if the Board at any time wishes to initiate or review of one or more positions within its jurisdiction for the purpose of determining whether or not it or they are properly classified. Any request for reclassification must identify the reason for the request.
Reclassification Request. An employee who believes that his principal duties do not correspond to his job class may submit a request for revaluation in writing to his immediate supervisor, with copy to the Human Resources department, Compensation unit and to the Union, specifying the reasons supporting his request. The Human Resources department will evaluate the position and will inform the employee, the supervisor and the Union of the results in writing, within ninety (90) working days of the request. Any reclassification resulting from the evaluation will be effective retroactively as of the date of the employee’s request. If the Human Resources department fails to answer within ninety (90) working days following the request or if the employee is unsatisfied with the evaluation results, he may submit a grievance as provided in clause 8.03, within thirty (30) working days of the failure to answer or of the receipt of the unsatisfying answer, whichever occurs first. If the job class of the position is downgraded, the employee holding the position continues to be paid according to the salary scale which applied to the position before the re-evaluation and is entitled to all of the step and salary increases as if the position had not been re-evaluated. The present applies as long as the employee remains the incumbent of the position.
Reclassification Request. Any employee or District administrator who believes the assigned duties and responsibilities of a job have changed sufficiently so as to justify reclassification, may submit a letter of request for job reclassification to the Human Resources Director. Such requests shall summarize the major changes that have initiated the request and must include the specific duties now assigned that were not assigned previously. In the interest of employees having access to reclassification in the most direct and timely manner, the District agrees to give notice to the Association that a request for reclassification has been received and is under consideration for administrative approval. Reclassification Request. If the Union believes that an employee is consistently performing work in a different or higher established classification the Union may request for reclassification. At the request of the Union, the parties will meet to discuss the employee’s reclassification. If agreement is not reached between the Union and Agency Head or designee, the matter shall be referred to the Director for resolution. The employee and the Union will be advised in writing on the disposition of the request. The disposition is not subject to the grievance process.

Human 6 Resources will forward approved request to the Board of Commissioners. 7 The Board will take action on the request within two (2) weeks. 9 If the reclassification is approved, the new pay rate will be effective at the 10 start of the pay period following receipt of the request in Human Resources. 12 If a reclassification request is approved, but it is determined the position will 13 not be upgraded, the higher-level duties will be removed. The nurse will 14 receive a lump sum payment for the difference between their current salary 15 and the approved salary rate for the time period, as referenced in the 16 preceding paragraph, to the date the duties are removed. 18 If the reclassification request is denied, the nurse or the Union may appeal at 19 Step 3 of the grievance procedure.
