Abandonment of Post. An employee absent from duty in excess of three (3) days without a satisfactory explanation shall be considered to have abandoned their post and shall be terminated provided that the employee’s Department Head shall make a reasonable effort to locate the employee. (1) Reasonable effort to locate the employee shall be satisfied if the Department Head or Human Resources sends a certified letter with return receipt requested to the employee at the address shown in the employee’s personnel file. (2) Termination for abandonment of post shall be deemed to be for just cause.
