Common use of Adoptive Parental Leave Clause in Contracts

Adoptive Parental Leave. (a) An Employee who has completed twelve (12) months of continuous employment, shall, upon written request, be granted a leave of absence without pay and benefits for up to twelve (12) months for the purpose of adopting a child. (b) The Employee may commence adoption leave upon one (1) days’ notice, provided the application for such leave is made when the adoption has been approved. The Employer shall be kept informed of the progress of the adoption proceedings. (c) The Employee may commence parental leave with one days notice provided that the initial application for such leave is made twelve (12) weeks prior to the expected date of leave. (d) An Employee on such leave shall provide the Employer with two (2) weeks written notice of readiness to return to work following which the Employer will reinstate the Employee in the same classification held by the Employee immediately prior to taking Adoption Leave and at the same Basic Rate of Pay.
