Alternate Shift Schedules. Shift schedules that differ from the regular daily or weekly hours of work set out in this Article, may be requested by either party, and provided there is mutual agreement between the parties and, if necessary, approval has been granted by the Director of Employment Standards of the Ministry of Labour, such shift schedules may be introduced on an experimental or continuing basis by the City. Any such agreed upon shift schedules may be terminated by either party giving the other thirty (30) days notice. Consistent with the foregoing, proposed shift schedules which may involve employees in the Local 416 Bargaining Unit will be discussed with the two Local Unions.
Alternate Shift Schedules. In isolated logging operations where employees live in a company bunkhouse, and where an alternate shift schedule is in effect, transportation/fares at shift changes will be determined on the following basis:
(a) Camp management will meet with the Local Union and will:
(i) identify the town center with road access from which transportation/fares to the camp can be provided;
(ii) identify the method of transportation to be used.
(b) Applicable transportation costs or fares will be shared on a 60-40 basis between the Company and the employee.
(c) Employees must be available at the point and time of departure where transportation is provided, and to qualify for fare allowances an employee must complete the full shift schedule.
(d) This Section does not apply to camps with road access to a town center.
Alternate Shift Schedules. Conditions may arise which affect business to the extent that the Company may desire to discuss some alternative to the regular work day, regular work week, and/or starting and stopping times of shifts. If such a situation occurs, the Company and the Union negotiating committee shall meet and negotiate in an attempt to address the needs of the business. It is understood that any change in the working conditions, shift times and duration, make up of the work week and work day, or the applicability of premium pay in any different shift schedule shall be subject to such negotiations and the ratification process. The Company agrees that no action on any new or different work schedule, other than that contained in the Collective Agreement, will be implemented unless and until such mutual agreement and ratification process is complete.
