Common use of Annual Military Duty Clause in Contracts

Annual Military Duty. 22-1 An employee who is a member of the armed forces reserve or National Guard and who loses time from work during the employee's normal schedule of work to participate in annual military training or for service required as result of a civil disorder or other temporary emergency shall be granted an excused absence from work not to exceed fifteen (15) work days in any one calendar year. Such an employee will be paid for the time lost at the employee's hourly rate plus shift premium, if applicable. Armed forces reserve or National Guard base pay shall be offset against such pay. Except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, such service shall be considered time worked. The employee shall furnish the University with written evidence of service and the amount of base pay the employee was eligible to receive. If an employee receives vacation pay during a period of training or service, the employee shall not be eligible for the pay provided by this Article for that period of time for which the employee received vacation pay.
