Anticipated Vacancies. All full-time bargaining unit employees who are considering retirement or resignation shall notify the College in writing of such decision as soon as is reasonably possible. a. When the hiring manager learns of a possible vacancy he/she shall consult with the appropriate divisional, program, and/or department stakeholders to determine what to do about the vacancy, including the possible publishing of notices regarding “Anticipated Vacancies.” b. In the event of a proposed reassignment to fill a vacant position, the chair of the appropriate program or department shall be consulted to determine the appropriate credentials for the position. c. Anticipated Vacancies. When a shortage of personnel in dispatchers is an “anticipated vacancy”, the positions which are short shall be posted on the bulletin board in Communications allowing qualified personnel to bid upon working the vacant position(s) on an overtime basis. The bidding employee(s) shall be required to have the Supervisor on duty, Lead Dispatcher or Acting Lead Dispatcher, initial, date and affix the time that the dispatcher signs up for the overtime. In the event that more than one person signs up for the same overtime work, seniority will be the determining factor. An exception will be that preference will be shown to those who are able to work an entire twelve and one-quarter (12 1/4) hour shift, instead of just six (6) hours. Provided that, more senior employees may bump less senior employees to work this overtime only when the bump occurs at least twenty-four (24) hours before the overtime begins. Employees may bump less senior employees to work this overtime by striking through the name of less senior employee(s) and placing their name on the overtime posting. When an employee is attempting to bump they must place the date and time beside their name when they have signed the posted overtime sheet and have the Supervisor on duty or his/her designee initial the employee's name. Notification to the bumped employee shall be provided by the Supervisor on duty or in the Supervisors absence by the Lead or Acting Lead Dispatcher. Employees are not permitted to sign up for overtime which would result in such employee working in excess of twelve and one-quarter (12 ¼) consecutive hours without an intervening rest period of at least eight (8) hours. Anticipated Vacancies. Open certificated positions that the District intends to fill will be emailed to teachers prior to posting the position to the Alaska Teacher Placement website. Teachers currently employed by the District will receive first and full consideration for the open position if the teacher submits his or her written application to the District within five days of the open position announcement. Determination of placement in the said position will be determined by a checklist of characteristics that will take into consideration the seniority of the applicant as an employee of KSD. The decision to reassign a currently employed teacher to a vacant position lies within the sole discretion of the District based upon its programmatic needs and assessment of the qualifications and suitability of the teacher for the vacancy. The District will notify the teacher of its decision concerning the open position for which the teacher applied no later than fifteen days after the individual makes the application for reassignment.

  • JOB VACANCIES (a) Announcements of opportunities for all job vacancies in new jobs, existing jobs, training positions, and apprenticeship positions within the bargaining unit, will be posted on the bulletin board of each lunchroom for a period of ten (10) days prior to the filling of the job vacancy. If a posting is temporary, the expected duration, if known, will be included in the posting. Employees desiring consideration in the filling of the job vacancy shall signify their desire by applying for the job notice during the period in which it is posted. (b) In filling posted vacancies, the skill, knowledge and ability of the applicants for the position shall be the primary consideration. Where two or more regular employees qualify, seniority shall be the determining factor. The skill, knowledge and ability for vacancies posted under this Article shall be those reasonably necessary to perform the job function and shall not be established in an arbitrary or discriminatory fashion. (c) All employees accepted to posted jobs shall be on probation for thirty (30) days worked, except for employees promoted into a technical trade position (e.g. Machinist or Millwright) who shall be on probation for ninety (90) days worked. During this period, the employee may, at his option, return to his former job, or, if in the Employer’s opinion the employee is not progressing satisfactorily, may be returned to his former job. Posting probation may be extended for days missed, in keeping with the procedures outlined in Article 18.02. (d) A notice shall be posted on the bulletin boards listing the name of the successful applicants, within the time limits of the job posting procedures. (i) Employees who post into a temporary position will be automatically returned to their former position once the posting is complete. (e) Every internal job applicant who meets the minimum qualifications will be given an interview unless he/she has been interviewed for a similar position within the last three (3) months. Every internal job applicant who is not given an interview will have the reasons explained to him/her. (f) In the event an employee transfers to a higher rated position, or is temporarily moved by the Employer, he or she will be entitled to the rate for that job. The transfer will occur in accordance with Article 18.10(b) of the Collective Agreement. (g) When a temporary vacancy exists for a position in a higher classification, the Employer will attempt to fill that position with a regular employee through a posting process if no cross-trained employee is available.

  • Vacancies Whenever a vacancy in the Board of Trustees shall occur, the remaining Trustees may fill such vacancy by appointing an individual having the qualifications described in this Article by a written instrument signed by a majority of the Trustees then in office or may leave such vacancy unfilled or may reduce the number of Trustees; provided the aggregate number of Trustees after such reduction shall not be less than the minimum number required by Section 2.1 hereof; provided, further, that if the Shareholders of any class or series of Shares are entitled separately to elect one or more Trustees, a majority of the remaining Trustees or the sole remaining Trustee elected by that class or series may fill any vacancy among the number of Trustees elected by that class or series. Any vacancy created by an increase in Trustees may be filled by the appointment of an individual having the qualifications described in this Article made by a written instrument signed by a majority of the Trustees then in office. No vacancy shall operate to annul this Declaration or to revoke any existing agency created pursuant to the terms of this Declaration. Whenever a vacancy in the number of Trustees shall occur, until such vacancy is filled as provided herein, the Trustees in office, regardless of their number, shall have all the powers granted to the Trustees and shall discharge all the duties imposed upon the Trustees by this Declaration.

  • Permanent Vacancies When a permanent job or vacancy occurs in a position previously held by a bargaining unit member, or a newly created position within the bargaining unit, notice of the job or vacancy shall be posted on the bulletin board in each building in which bargaining unit personnel work for ten (10) working days, and a copy mailed to the local Association ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. For purposes of this section, the addition of more regularly scheduled hours to an existing part-time position will be considered to be a vacancy if the additional hours cause the part-time position to become a full-time position. A copy of the vacancy notice shall also be sent to each bargaining unit member who is laid off. A permanent job or vacancy does not include vacancies caused by leaves of absence. The Employer, in its sole discretion, shall determine if a vacancy exists which is to be filled under this Section. Employees interested in the job posting may file a written application with the Employer by the deadline established in the posting. The Employer shall give due consideration to all applicants for the permanent vacancy, including applicants from outside the bargaining unit. In considering an applicant's qualifications to perform the required work, the Employer shall consider the employee's ability, experience, training, productivity, seniority, work performance, work record and dependability. The applicant considered by the Employer in its sole discretion to be the best qualified shall be awarded the permanent vacancy; provided, however, that if the Employer determines that the qualifications of the applicants who meet the qualifications for the job or vacancy are equal, the applicant with the greatest seniority shall be awarded the position. The Employer reserves the right to determine that none of the applicants are qualified and leave the position open or to seek further applicants.

  • Filling of Vacancies 150 - The Employer will fill vacancies on a seniority basis first within the occupational group with employees who possess the minimum qualifications for the classification under consideration. If there are no qualified bidders or no bidders from within the occupational group, the Employer will select the most senior applicant in the bargaining unit who possesses the minimum qualifications of the classification. An unsatisfactory MSU employment record may be a proper per cause for denial of consideration for a vacancy. 151 - Vacancies will be posted for a period of seven (7) calendar days in a conspicuous place in the employee's work areas. All postings will state the classification, rate of pay, starting time, shift, location, and minimum qualifications. A copy of the Position Vacancy Notice will be provided to the Union when it is available. Employees must apply for vacancies by submitting the Employee Request for Consideration for Support Staff Position Vacancy to the Office of Human Resource Services by the closing date specified on the Position Vacancy Notice. 152 - Postings shall remain posted for seven (7) calendar days before the vacancy is filled. The Employer will notify the Union, in writing, of the name of the employee selected to fill a vacancy, stating his/her seniority date and title of the classification. Temporary transfers may be used, if necessary, during the posting period. 153 - A vacancy may not be filled from a posting ninety (90) calendar days or more after the posting expiration date. The vacancy must be reposted if it is to be filled. 154 - If it should become necessary in filling a vacancy to bypass an employee's seniority, reasons for denial shall be given in writing to such employee with a copy to the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ of the district. 155 - An employee who is promoted, transferred or demoted must satisfactorily complete a trial period of 520 hours of work. Prior to the expiration of this period, either the Employer or the employee may declare the trial period unsatisfactory, and the employee shall return to his/her former position at his/her former pay rate, classification, and shift. If the Employer determines an employee is unsatisfactory in the new position, notice and reasons shall be submitted to the employee in writing by the Employer with a copy to the Union. The matter may then become a proper subject for the grievance procedure. 156 - During the trial period, employees will receive the regular rate of the job they are performing. 157 - An employee who bids on a vacancy that is posted under this section and is subsequently selected and placed in the vacancy shall remain assigned to it for three (3) months following the 520 hours of work trial period before becoming eligible to bid on another posted vacancy. 158 - If an employee is temporarily assigned to a job with a higher maximum rate, and he/she is capable of doing the job, he/she shall receive an increase of ten (10) cents per hour, or the starting rate, whichever is greater, but in no event shall he/she be paid more than the maximum rate of the job to which he/she is temporarily assigned. If the temporary assignment in a higher classification is for three (3) hours or more, the employee will receive the increase in pay for eight (8) hours. An employee who is assigned on a temporary basis to a job in a lower pay grade shall have his/her hourly pay rate maintained. This section shall not be used to circumvent the posting requirement as stated in this article. 159 - If an employee is temporarily assigned to work as a supervisor for eight (8) consecutive hours or more, he/she shall receive, in addition to his/her regular pay, one dollar ($1.00) per hour differential compensation. Such differential compensation will not increase the hourly base rate. 160 - The procedures for filling vacancies may be bypassed for the following situations: a. Employees drawing Workers' Compensation benefits for any position at their former or lower compensation grade levels, the duties of which they are able to perform, provided that during their absence they did not become subject to layoff. b. Former seniority employees who have filed for unemployment compensation. 161 - The parties recognize the Employer's commitment to and program for Affirmative Action. To that end the parties agree to cooperate to the extent possible for the achievement of the Affirmative Action objective. When it is necessary to fill vacancies for Affirmative action purposes, such action must be proven under the provision of the Affirmative action plan of the Employer. The University and the Union will meet to discuss any problems associated with the filling of vacancies for affirmative action purposes. Following discussion, the action may be permitted.

  • Filling Vacancies In the filling of vacancies, new positions, transfers or promotions, appointments shall be made to the employee with the required qualifications, and level of competency and efficiency as required by the position specifications, and where such requirements are equal, seniority shall be the determining factor.
