ARTICLE I -- PURPOSE AND INTENT. The general purpose of this Agreement is to set forth the basis for wages, hours and other conditions of employment which shall prevail for the duration of this Agreement except as hereinafter specified. The Board and the Association recognize and declare that providing a quality education for the children in the Xxxxxxxx Public Schools is their mutual aim and intent, and that the character of such education depends in large measure upon the quality and morale of the teaching service and upon the Board's ability to acquire and retain a qualified staff. The Board and the Association, for and in consideration of the mutual promises, stipulations and conditions hereinafter specified, agree to abide by the terms and provisions set forth herein for the duration of this Agreement.

  • Definition and Interpretation 1.1 Except as otherwise defined in the terms or context hereof, the following terms in this Agreement shall have the following meanings:
