Association Leave - Purchased Time. The Association shall have the right to purchase the time of members for Association business up to a maximum of twenty-seven (27) days at the actual substitute rate. The individual certified staff member whose time is so purchased shall suffer no loss of salary or other benefits. The past practice of granting six (6) Association leave days for attendance at the IEA Convention without cost or loss of pay shall be continued. The Association’s President shall designate the persons and dates of the aforementioned leave at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the leave to the Superintendent or designee who, in an emergency, may waive such notice. The Association shall be able to purchase for each of its members who serve as a member of the Executive Board or Board of Directors in the Illinois Education Association or the National Education Association a maximum of fifteen (15) days leave at the actual substitute pay rate. These certified staff shall suffer no loss of salary or other benefits from such purchases.
