Backfilling. The purpose of this section is to provide opportunities for employees to temporarily increase their number of hours of work, temporarily increase their wages, and/or acquire experience in a different job assignment. 4.11.1 When the District determines to fill a position held by an employee who is absent from work for a period of time known by the District to last sixty (60) working days or longer, the District shall post the temporarily vacant position promptly, but in no event later than ten (10) working days after the District has received notification and/or confirmation of the duration of absence. 4.11.2 The District will use the procedure outlined in “Promotion 4.4” in filling the temporary vacancy. 4.11.3 Any employee filling such temporary positions shall be returned to their regular position after the return of the employee on leave.
