Bargaining Unit Vacancies. Subd. 1. A vacancy shall exist when a bargaining unit position is open due to reasons such as resignation, termination, or the creation of a new position and there is no certificated or licensed teacher on unrequested leave or returning from leave and there is no staff overage in such area of certification. Subd. 2. When vacancies occur after August 1 and other than at semester break, it may be difficult to fill them from within the District without undue disruption to the existing instructional program. Such a vacancy will be filled on a temporary basis, on a one-year only contract until the end of the school year at which time the position will be considered vacant subject to Subd. 1 above.
