Common use of Base Hourly Rate Clause in Contracts

Base Hourly Rate. The Base Hourly Rate, used for the purpose of calculating overtime and acting pay, will be determined by the following formula: Base Hourly Rate = Contract Rate ÷ 2184 hours (52 weeks x 42 hours). (a) Recognition pay will be applicable on January 1 of the year in which the firefighter’s anniversary reaches 8, 17 or 23 years, where the firefighter’s anniversary is before October 31. If the firefighter’s seniority follows October 31, the recognition pay is applied on January 1 of the following year. (b) It is understood that recognition pay will be applied to the base salary, and all other forms of pay that are determined using the base rate, including pensionable earnings, overtime, statutory holiday and so on.
