Benefit Eligibility Factor (BEF as of the Effective Date of Hire. Because the less than full- time employee has not yet worked, the initial benefit eligibility factor is based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours. This is determined by dividing the weekly hours by forty. For example, a part-time employee scheduled to work 20 hours per week would have a BEF of 0.5. A part-time employee working the maximum of 24 hours weekly would have a BEF of 0.6. This initial BEF will continue to be used until the part-time employee has worked a full fiscal year.
