BEREAVEMENT/FAMILY LEAVE. A. In the cases of death in the immediate family of the teacher, the teacher is entitled to be absent without loss of compensation for five (5) school days. "Immediate family" is interpreted as including spouse, parent, child, sister, brother, and parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, or any other person who at the time of death was living as a member of the household of the teacher or for whom the teacher is the primary caregiver or legal guardian.
