Funeral and Bereavement Leave. Local 6070 Bargaining Unit Members shall be allowed to take Funeral and Bereavement Leave in accordance with University Regulation 04.06.130.
Funeral and Bereavement Leave. 20.1.1 Employee absent from duty by reason of the death of their spouse, domestic partner, parents, children, sisters, brothers, grandparents, grandchildren, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandparents-in-law, step-children, step-brothers, step-sisters, step- parents, step-grandchildren, step-grandparents and the equivalent relatives of an employee with a domestic partner, shall be allowed no more than three (3) days' time off duty without deduction of pay on account of such absence. For the purpose of 20.1 and its subsections, a day is equal to the employee’s regularly scheduled work shift.
20.1.2 Employees shall be allowed an additional two (2) days' leave for necessary funeral travel time in the event of a death in their immediate family. Approval for such travel time shall be made by the Bureau Director (or their designee).
20.1.3 Under exceptional circumstances leave for death may be granted by the Bureau Director (or their designee) upon the death of a person other than the employee's immediate family.
20.1.4 When employees attends a funeral ceremony for a fellow employee within their own bureau, they will be granted four (4) hours' time off with pay to attend such funeral ceremony, subject to the needs of the operation.
Funeral and Bereavement Leave. Effective ratification 2013 (April 10, 2013) the following language applies to all employees:
Funeral and Bereavement Leave. Employees assigned to a forty-hour average work week shall receive one (1) or, if necessary for travel, two (2) shifts off duty with pay as funeral leave in the event of a death of a close relative. The second shift off is applicable only in instances where total travel of 200 miles or more is necessary. The intent of this provision is to provide time off from regularly scheduled duty to attend or make arrangements for a funeral in event of the death of a close relative.
Funeral and Bereavement Leave. 19.01 In the event of death in the immediate family of an employee, the employee will be granted leave of absence with pay, with consideration given to travel time for attending the funeral. The length of absence shall be up to three (3) days at the discretion of the Employer. The term ‘immediate family’ shall mean: spouse, parent, child, brother, sister, step-mother, step- father, step-son, step-daughter, step-brother, step- sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, and grandchildren, or any relative living in the household of the employee. In the event of the demise of an aunt or uncle, nephew or niece, an employee will be granted one (1) day leave of absence with pay to attend the funeral.
19.02 Part-time employees time off with pay shall be calculated on a prorated basis of hours worked during

19.04 Employees may split either the three (3) days or one (1) week to cover off both bereavement and time to attend the funeral. (i.e. two (2) days bereavement taken at the time of death and one (1) day taken for the day of the funeral.

20.1 In the event of death in the immediate family of an employee, the employee will be granted leave of absence with pay, with consideration given to travel time for attending the funeral. The length of
Funeral and Bereavement Leave. (a) An employee shall be allowed at his request up to five (5) work days, with pay, as funeral and bereavement leave for a death of a spouse, son, daughter, parent or parent of spouse. This time shall not be deducted from sick leave.
(b) An employee shall be allowed, at his request, up to five (5) work days per occurrence with pay as funeral or bereavement leave deducted from sick leave for a death of a member of the immediate family (definition of the immediate family: brother, sister, xxxxxxxxxx, grandparents, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, or a dependent in the immediate family. Also included will be the same step relatives (i.e., step-brother, etc.).
(c) Upon request, an employee shall be allowed one (1) work day per occurrence with pay as funeral leave to be deducted from their sick leave for the death of a relative not defined in (a) or (b) above.
(d) Upon request, an employee shall be allowed one (1) work day per year with pay as funeral leave to be deducted from his accumulated sick leave for a death of a close friend or a Union member.
Funeral and Bereavement Leave. An employee may take three (3) days per year, non-chargeable to accumulated sick days, for death in his/her immediate family. Immediate family shall be interpreted as spouse, mother, father, brother, sister, child, grandparents, father and mother-in-law, grandchildren. Additional days may be granted by the Superintendent and deducted from the employee's accumulated sick leave.
Funeral and Bereavement Leave. Employees represented herein will be granted upon request paid leave of five (5) consecutive scheduled work days to attend the funeral and for travel and bereavement time, upon the death of a member of the employee's immediate family, household, in-laws, grandchildren, and/or grandparents; and one (1) day to attend the funeral or memorial service and for travel and bereavement time of a relative other than the above who is not a member of the employee's household. Management may require documentation to substantiate eligibility for the leave. Immediate family is defined as: father, mother, sister, brother, spouse, grandparent, grandchildren and children. Biological, adopted, xxxxxx, legal wards, step or in loco parentis relationships are considered as immediate family under this policy. In-laws are defined as: mother-in-law, father-in- law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, and grandparent-in-law. Other relative is defined as: aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or cousin of the employee. Such relatives are regarded as members of the immediate family only if in residence in the employee's household. For purposes of application of funeral leave, relationships existing due to marriage will terminate upon the death or divorce of the relative through whom the marriage relationship exists. Current marital status will be defined in accordance with Illinois State law. The number of hours of authorized absence with pay for a day of funeral leave is defined as: 1/5 of the full-time weekly work schedule of the employee's classification times the employee's percent time of appointment. These hours multiplied by the eligible employee's regular straight time hourly rate (or benefit hourly rate) equals the amount of funeral leave to be paid. Paid funeral leave may be used only on days an employee is scheduled to work. A designated supervisor may grant a leave to an employee who cannot, because of special circumstances, return to work at the completion of the allowable funeral leave days. An employee may take such leave without pay or may use accrued vacation and personal leave.
Funeral and Bereavement Leave. A leave of absence shall be granted for up to three (3) consecutive days of the employee’s choice for a death in the employee’s immediate family. One of the funeral and bereavement leave days shall be the date of the funeral. If out-of- state travel is necessary, the leave may be extended up to two (2) additional days, upon approval of the Fire Chief. Employees will be paid at their regular rate for all time lost from their work schedule during the period of the funeral leave. None of these days shall be deducted from the employee’s unused paid sick leave or other paid leave. Immediate family shall include: Current spouse, children, step-children, father, step-father, mother, step-mother, sister, step-sister, brother, step-brother, grandchildren, grandparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece and nephew. Fire prevention employees may receive two (2) additional days of funeral and bereavement leave for a total of five
