Common use of BEREAVEMENT LEAVE AND/OR PAY Clause in Contracts

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE AND/OR PAY. Leave for all employees shall be provided because of death of a member of the employee's immediate family provided, however, that employees shall not be entitled to bereavement pay during the first (1st) year of employment, but will be given up to three (3) days off without pay. Pay for such leave shall be at the straight-time rate for the hours scheduled for each workday lost because of such absence to a maximum of three (3) consecutive days. Verification of time required for such paid leave shall be supplied to the Employer by the employee, if requested. Immediate family shall be defined as the employee's spouse, child, mother, father, stepparent, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in- law, grandchild, grandparent, stepchild, legal guardian, or other relative living in the employee's home.
