ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. In the case of a death in the immediate family of an employee, the Company will pay the employee at his regular hourly rate for any of the five (5) successive calendar days which the employee would otherwise have worked. Immediate family shall be deemed to mean wife, children, mother, father, brother, sister. In the case of a death of grandfather, grandmother, mother-in-law and father-in-law, the Company will pay the employee at his regular hourly rate for any of the two (2) successive calendar days, which the employee would otherwise have worked.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. An Employee who would otherwise have been at work shall be allowed up to three (3) days’ leave with pay in the event of the death of a member of immediate family and such leave will not be charged against the Employee’s attendance credits. For the purpose of this section, “immediate family”, shall include the Employee’s spouse, common-law spouse, mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepson, stepdaughter, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, xxxxxx parents, legal guardians, grandchildren and the grandparents of the Employee and spouse or any relative with whom the Employee lives. Necessary travelling time in addition to the three (3) days may be granted at the discretion of the Police Chief. It is the responsibility of the Employee to request this leave from supervisor. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to obtain the decision of the Police Chief, or designate, as applicable, and for advising the Employee of the decision made.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. An employee who has attained seniority shall be permitted time-off work with pay for the purpose of making arrangements, attending a church or attending the funeral for a member of his family, for three (3) for spouse, son, daughter. mother, father. sister, brother, mother-in-law. father-in-law, grandparents and grandchildren. One (1) day for step-mother and step-father upon presentation of proof. ARTICLE PAYMENT OF WAGES The Company shall pay wages on a weekly basis Friday.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. If a death occurs in the immediate family of an employee bereavement leave shall not start until the day following the death of that person. Employees shall be granted five (5) consecutive days leave without loss of pay and benefits in the case of the death of parent, spouse, common law spouse, brother, sister, grandchild, son or daughter. Employees shall be granted three (3) consecutive days leave without loss of pay and benefits in the case of the death of grandparent, mother in-law, father-in-law, brother-in- law, sister in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law, step parents, step siblings. Employees shall receive one (1) day off to attend the funeral of an aunt or uncle provided that they attend the funeral or other service. An additional two (2) days shall be granted if the death occurs outside of Nova Scotia and the employee attends the funeral. Employees shall only be paid bereavement for actual time lost and shall not be paid on their regular scheduled days off. Additional leave may be granted at the discretion of the department head. If a death occurs, as in during vacation bereavement leave shall be substituted and the vacation shall be rescheduled at a later date. Where an employee has been requested and has agreed to act as a pallbearer, time off work shall be granted without loss of pay to attend the funeral or other service. Where such a request involves more than one employee equal considerationshall be granted. The EMPLOYER shall grant a leave of absence Without loss of seniority and benefits to an employee who serves as a juror. The EMPLOYER shall grant a leave of absence without loss of seniority and benefits to an employee who is subpoenaed to serve as a witness in any matter arising out of his employment. EMPLOYER shall pay such employee his regular straight time pay for each day as long as the remuneration from the Court is returned to and provided the employee would otherwise have been scheduled to work for the EMPLOYER and does not work. The employee must give prior notice to the EMPLOYER and shall present proof of service.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. In the event of the death of a spouse (as defined in the current benefits program), child, parent, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister, son or daughter in-law, current spouse’s parent or sibling, legal guardian or xxxx or any relative of the employee who resides permanently with the employee or with whom the employee permanently resides, an employee with seniority covered by this Agreement, will be granted, upon application, a leave of absence of up to three (3) calendar days, immediately following the day of the death, for the purpose of attending the funeral and conducting other associated activities. To ensure continuous compensation, time will be compensated for any scheduled work assignments occurring during those three (3) consecutive calendar days. The Company reserves the right to request documentation. In the event of the death of an aunt, uncle, niece or nephew or current spouse’s aunt, uncle. niece or nephew, an employee with seniority covered by this Agreement, will be granted, upon application, a leave of absence of one (1) calendar day at regular hourly rate of pay for the purpose of attending the funeral and conducting other associated activities. To ensure continuous compensation, time will be compensated for any scheduled work assignments occurring during that one calendar day. The Company reserves the right to request documentation.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. An employee be allowed up to four (4) consecutive days leave from work with pay, including the day after the funeral or the memorial service in case of cremation event of the death of his father, mother, sister, brother, wife, husband, son, daughter, grandparents, grand-children, father-in-law and mother-in-law as well as stepmother and stepfather where such person has participated as a in the raising of the employee. Such leave shall be for the purpose of attending the mourning and the funeral. Only the portion of four (4) working days that would otherwise have been time lost from work will be paid. In the event of the death of such employee’s brother-in-law, sister-in-law, or spouse of a parent who is not a stepparent, this employee may obtain a four (4) consecutive days leave of absence, of which he shall be paid for one (1) of the four (4) days at his regular hourly rate. Article HOURS OF WORK The regular work week will consist of forty (40) hours to be worked in five (5) days of eight (8) hours each day. This shall not be construed as a guarantee of daily or weekly hours.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. Bereavement Leave shall be granted to a member, upon written request on the appropriate form, without loss of salary or deduction from the Sick Leave Credit Account in accordance with this article. For absence occasioned by the death of a son, daughter, mother, father, grandchild of the member or the member’s leave shall be granted for a period of five consecutive working days if requested. For absence occasioned by the death of a sister, brother or grandchild of the member or the member’s leave shall be granted for a period of three consecutive working days if requested. For absence occasioned by the death of those not covered under or leave may be granted upon recommendation of the and subject to the approval of the Executive Officer of Human Resources.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. Employees will be entitled to five (5) days bereavement leave at the standard rate of pay to attend the funeral of or grieve the loss of a partner or child. Employees will be entitled to three (3) days bereavement leave at the standard rate of pay to attend the funeral of or grieving the loss of mother, father, sister, brother, mother-in-law, fatiler-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents, step-mother, step-father, step- brother, step-sister, step-children, and xxxxxx’s grandparents. One additional day shall be granted to attend a funeral of-province as described above, and two (2) additional days shall be granted to attend a funeral in another continent as described above. Management shall grant a maximum of one (1) day for combined bereavement travel leave at the standard rate of pay to employees attending the funeral of aunt, uncle, niece or nephew and xxxxxx’s aunt, uncle, niece or nephew. Bereavement leave during an employee’s scheduled vacation will credit the employee’s vacation by the number of qualified days. Credited vacation will be taken at a time mutually agreeable.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. For bereavement leave, the full salary of the teacher will be paid during the absence as follows: Death of a spouse or common-law spouse or same-genderpartner days Death of a child or grandchild days Death of an immediate family member living in the household days Death of a parent or parent-in-law days Death of a grandparent days Death of a brother or sister days Death of a brother-in-law or a sister-in-law days For other close relatives not listed in I above, the Superintendent of Schools may grant up to one (1) day paid leave of absence. Application for such leave must be made on the Divisional application form provided for this purpose. Where travel is necessary in attending to a bereavement, the Superintendent of Schools may grant additional time. Application for such an extension should be made to the Superintendent’s Office. For the purpose of this clause: Where a teacher establishes that has been residing with a person of the same or opposite gender and has lived with that person in a marriage-like relationship for at least twelve (12) months and has publicly represented that person as his or her spouse, that person shall be deemed to the same gender partner, or common-law spouse of the teacher. Where circumstances warrant and where additional leave may be granted by the Superintendent, then the teacher’s salary may, at the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools be reduced by no more than the actual cost of the replacement substitute teacher.
ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE. In the case of the demise of a member of the immediate family, Permanent and Probationary Employees shall be permitted a leave of absence with pay for three (3) consecutive working days which shall be taken immediately prior to, during or following the day of the funeral. Immediate family shall mean: father, step-father, mother, step-mother, wife, husband, bona fide common-law spouse, brother, sister, son, step-son, daughter, step-daughter, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparents or grandchildren. Bereavement leave of absence for the demise of members of the immediate family shall not be deducted from the employee's accumulated sick leave credits. In the case of the demise of a brother-in-law or a sister-in-law, Permanent and Probationary Employees shall be permitted a leave of absence with pay for up to three (3) consecutive days which shall be taken immediately prior to, during or following the day of the funeral. The first two (2) work- ing days of any bereavement leave of absence for the demise of a brother-in- law or sister-in-law shall not be deducted from the employee's accumulated sick leave credits. However, the third working day, if any, of any bereave- ment leave of absence for the demise of a brother-in-law or a sister-in-law shall be deducted the employee's accumulated sick leave credits.
