BOARD PREROGATIVES. Nothing contained in this Agreement shall be construed to prohibit the Board of Trustees from conferring academic rank and tenure upon persons occupying administrative positions. However, Western will solicit and consider the recommendations of the department to which the administrator would be appointed before granting tenure. Sole power to confer tenure rests with the Board of Trustees, which awards tenure by official action approving the President's tenure recommendations. Under no circumstances shall tenure be acquired by default.
