CARBON MONOXIDE/SMOKE DETECTOR. To the extent required by law the Complexes are equipped with smoke alarm(s) and carbon monoxide detector/alarm(s), hereinafter the “Device(s)”. STUDENT will perform the manufacturer’s recommended testing at least once a week to determine if the Devices are operating properly and it shall be the responsibility of each STUDENT to 1) ensure that the battery is in operating condition at all times, 2) replace the battery as needed (unless otherwise provided by law); and 3) if, after replacing the battery, the Devices do not work, to inform the UNIVERSITY and Heritage Property Management, immediately. In accordance with California law, Civil Code Section 1954, STUDENT shall allow Heritage Property Management access to the Apartments for that purpose. STUDENT shall not tamper with, deface, disconnect or damage the Devices, and shall take reasonable care to ensure that the Devices remain operational.
