Network Interface Device (NID). 2.7.1 The NID is defined as any means of interconnection of end-user customer premises wiring to BellSouth’s distribution plant, such as a cross-connect device used for that purpose. The NID is a single-line termination device or that portion of a multiple-line termination device required to terminate a single line or circuit at the premises. The NID features two independent xxxxxxxx or divisions that separate the service provider’s network from the end user’s customer-premises wiring. Each chamber or division contains the appropriate connection points or posts to which the service provider and the end user each make their connections. The NID provides a protective ground connection and is capable of terminating cables such as twisted pair cable.
2.7.2 BellSouth shall permit Lightyear to connect Lightyear’s Loop facilities the end- user’s customer-premises wiring through the BellSouth NID or at any other technically feasible point.

Network Interface Device (NID). A stand-alone Network Element defined as any means of interconnecting customer premises wiring to CenturyLink’s distribution plant, such as a cross- connect device used for that purpose. The NID houses the protector which establishes the demarcation point between the loop (inclusive of the NID) and the End User Customer’s Inside Wire pursuant to 47 CFR 68.105. Except in multi- unit tenant properties where CenturyLink owns and maintains control over Inside Wire within a building, maintenance and control of the End User Customer’s Inside Wiring (i.e., on the End User Customer’s side of the NID) is under the control of the End User Customer. For purposes of this definition, the phrase “End User Customer Access Side of the NID” is descriptive and does not convey any ownership or usage rights.

The VERIZON provided interface terminating VERIZON’s telecommunication network on the property where the customer’s End-User service is located at a point determined by VERIZON. The NID contains an FCC Part 68 registered xxxx from which inside wire may be connected to VERIZON’s network. The point of demarcation between the End-User's inside wiring and VERIZON's facilities.
Network Interface Device (NID). 5.1 The NID is a cross-connect used to connect loop facilities to inside wiring. The fundamental function of the NID is to establish the official network demarcation point between a carrier and its end-user customer. The NID shall be capable of transferring electrical analog or digital signals between the subscribers’ inside wiring and cross connect to MCIW’s NID, consistent with the NIDs function at the Effective Date of this Agreement. The NID features two independent xxxxxxxx or divisions, which separate the service provider’s network from the customer’s inside wiring. Each chamber or division contains the appropriate connection points or posts to which the service provider and the end-user customer each make their connections.
5.2 MCIW may provide its own NID and may interface to the customer’s premises wiring through connections in the customer chamber of ALLTEL’s NID. This connection will be in adherence with the FCC rules regarding NID to NID arrangements.
5.3 With respect to multiple dwelling units or multiple-unit business premises, MCIW will provide its own NID and will connect directly with the customer’s inside wire. Alltel shall also permit MCIW to connect MCIW’s Loop at the inside wiring of a subscriber premises through ALLTEL’s NID.
5.4 The ALLTEL NIDs that MCIW uses under this Attachment will be those installed by ALLTEL to serve its customers.
5.5 Where feasible, the NID shall be physically accessible to MCIW designated personnel. In cases where entrance to the customer premises is required to give access to the NID, MCIW shall obtain entrance permission directly from the customer.
5.6 Neither Party will attach to or disconnect the other’s ground. The NID shall provide an accessible point of interconnection and shall maintain a connection to ground. Neither Party will cut or disconnect the other’s loop from its protector. Neither Party will cut any other leads in the NID. Each Party will protect all disconnected leads with plastic sleeves and will store them within the NID enclosure. Each Party will tighten all screws or lugs loosened in the NIDs enclosure and replace all protective covers.
5.7 Any repairs, upgrades, and/or rearrangements required and authorized by MCIW will be performed by ALLTEL based on time and material charges.
Network Interface Device (NID). 3.1 The Windstream NID is defined as any means of Interconnection of Customer on-premises wiring and Windstream's distribution plant, such as a cross connect device used for that purpose. Specifically, the NID is a single line termination device or that portion of a multiple line termination device required to terminate a single line or circuit at a premises. If XxXxxx seeks to access a NID, it may do so only pursuant to Section 3. If XxXxxx seeks to access a NID, it may only do so pursuant to this Section 3. Windstream shall permit XxXxxx to connect its own Loop facilities to on-premises wiring through Windstream's NID, or at any other Technically Feasible point. The NID carries with it all features, functions and capabilities of the facilities used to connect the Loop distribution plant to the End User Customer's premises wiring, including access to the Cross Connection field, regardless of the particular design of the NID mechanism. Although the NID provides the connection to the End User Customer's premises wiring, it may not represent the Demarcation Point where Windstream ownership or control of the intra-premises wiring ends. The NID contains a protective ground connection that protects the End User Customer's on-premises wiring against lightning and other high voltage surges and is capable of terminating media such as twisted pair cable. The NID is offered in the following varieties:
3.1.1 Simple NID - The modular NID is divided into two (2) components, one containing the over-voltage unit (protector) and the other containing the End User Customer's on- premises inside wiring termination, and a modular plug which connects the inside wire to the distribution plant or dial tone source. The non-modular NID is a protector block with the inside wire terminated directly on the distribution facilities.
Network Interface Device (NID). The GTE provided interface terminating GTE’s telecommunication network on the property where the customer’s End-User service is located at a point determined by GTE. The NID contains an FCC Part 68 registered xxxx from which inside wire may be connected to GTE’s network. The point of demarcation between the End-User's inside wiring and GTE's facilities.
Network Interface Device (NID). The NID UNE is defined as any means of interconnection of Customer inside wiring to VERIZON’s distribution plant. To gain access to a Customer’s inside wiring, SPRINT may connect its own loop directly to VERIZON’s NID where SPRINT uses its own facilities to provide local service to a Customer formerly served by VERIZON, as long as such direct connection does not adversely affect VERIZON’s network. VERIZON shall have the right to deny SPRINT's ability to connect its own loop directly to VERIZON's NID.
Network Interface Device (NID). The NID is a cross-connect device used to connect loop facilities to Customer-owned inside wiring and serves as the point of demarcation between the end-user’s inside wiring and Spectra’s facilities.
Network Interface Device (NID). The NID UNE is defined as any means of interconnection of end-user Customer inside wiring to GTE’s distribution plant. To gain access to an end-user’s inside wiring, US Dial Tone may connect its own loop directly to GTE’s NID where US Dial Tone uses its own facilities to provide local service to an end-user formerly served by GTE, as long as such direct connection does not adversely affect GTE’s network.
