Class Size Ratios in Special Education Classes. The District shall make every effort to maintain the following teacher/student ratios in the following special settings: • Severely Handicapped Preschool: 8 • Severely Handicapped (Elementary, Middle, High School): 10 • SDC: Mild/Moderate (All levels): 12 • SDC: Moderate/Severe/Autism Strand (All levels): 10 • Emotionally Disturbed Strand (ED; All levels): 8 If the District must exceed the above ratios, it will provide information to and discuss with the affected unit members and the department chair the reason for the teacher/student ratio, anticipated duration, and the District’s reasonable efforts to maintain the classroom teacher/student ratio and teaching loads.
